Tidy Towns


Birdhill Tidy Village Committee

Birdhill Tidy Village Committee was set up in 1991. Among the environmental tasks undertaken during the intervening years were:

  • Landscaping and planting in the village and surrounding areas
  • Construction of stone walls
  • Laying out of beds for shrubs and flowers
  • Controlling weeds and overgrowth
  • Organising the collection of litter
  • Promoting recycling
  • Installing 'features' in the village
  • Laying kerbing and footpaths
  • Installing street furniture
  • Drawing short and long term plans
  • Development of the Village Green
  • Establishing the Pollagh Trail
  • Developing a Community Park
  • Surveying the flora and fauna of the area
  • Producing an Information Leaflet for Birdhill
  • Installing Christmas Tree annually
  • General maintenance of the village and environs.
  • Installation of Fountain.
  • Creation of Ogham Garden in the Community Park
  • Installation of Dove Cote & Moon Garden
  • Installation of Bench detailing awards
